On February 8, seven South Orangetown Middle School students were honored at Rockland Community College’s annual Black Achievement Awards ceremony, which celebrates the accomplishments of local public school students of color. Award selection criteria includes: currently in Grades 6 or 8; an academic average of 90% or greater; and, outstanding participation and accomplishment in at least two of the following categories: community service, artistic expression, athletic ability and accomplishment, leadership activity and personal triumph and success.
