Dear South Orangetown Families:

I am writing to inform you that the South Orangetown Central School District continues to work closely with our transportation vendor to quickly resolve outstanding issues with our daily bus routes.

SOCSD Transportation Coordinator Kurt Wickham, School Business Administrator Sandra Winkler and I met with Student Bus Company owner John Ely on Friday. He assured the District that all problems will be corrected by Tuesday, September 12.

Apart from guarantees from the vendor to resolve busing issues, the District is committed to improving transportation communications with families going forward. Our Transportation Department is assessing bus routes and capacity and will submit a proposed solution to the Board of Education on Monday. Providing safe and efficient transportation allows our students to be physically present and emotionally prepared to learn.

I am confident that Student Bus Company will meet its commitments and look forward to a rapid resolution for our families.
