South Orangetown Day organizers Joseph Agnello and Marisa Marrone presented Family Engagement Center Coordinator AJ Walker with a $300 donation today! Funds were raised through the dunk tank at the October 19 event, which drew more than 1,000 people. Agnello and Marrone, both Tappan Zee High School alumni (‘99), started the event in 2014 to build community by connecting local businesses, schools and nonprofit organizations.
“Every year, we look for a new charitable cause in order to give back and AJ was gracious enough to volunteer to run the dunk tank for us this year,” Agnello explained. “When we heard about the great programs and workshops the Family Engagement Center provides for our school district, it was an easy decision on which organization to choose.”
Over the past few years, the FEC has expanded its initial focus on pre-K to encompass programming and services for families with children through Grade 12. The South Orangetown Day donation will help to support upcoming events. “The funds will be used to purchase supplies for programs including our visioning workshops for South Orangetown Middle School and Tappan Zee High School students in January,” she noted.
The FEC will be partnering with South Orangetown Day again this Saturday, December 7, 3 -7pm, for the 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Great Lawn at Manse Barn in Tappan. Stop by the FEC table for festive family crafts!
