Tappan Zee High School’s Concert Choir is headed to Radio City Music Hall today to perform as an opening act for the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes for the seventh consecutive year!
“It’s rare that a high school student can list as part of their achievements that they’ve performed in front 6,000 people in the largest concert hall in the United States,” said TZHS Choral Director Russell Wagoner. “I’m very proud of our singers and their commitment to perform consistently at such a high musical standard.”
Senior Erin S. is returning too for a second year and said that her encore trip is just as thrilling as her first. “I feel so honored to perform in such a historic venue and to continue the TZHS tradition of singing at Radio City Music Hall.”
Choir member Anna C., a junior, plans to study opera in college and says that opportunities like this are inspiring for student-musicians. “I am definitely excited to perform at Radio City. Some middle school chorus members get to come along to see us sing–it’s something to look forward to when they get to high school.”
For musicians like Delyth P., being able to participate in multiple ensembles is an important piece of her educational experience. The junior hopes to study musical production and psychology in college. “The music program this time of year is wonderful,” she noted. “Not only do we get to go to Radio City, but those of us in band or orchestra get to perform both with our instruments and with the Concert Choir. Our music teachers are the best and encourage our love of music.”
Come hear our talented TZHS musicians first-hand! The annual Winter Concert is Wednesday, December 18 at 7PM in the TZHS Auditorium. All are welcome.
