The South Orangetown Central School District Board of Education has approved the appointment of Rob Schliessman to Acting Principal at William O. Schaefer Elementary School effective September 10, 2020. Schliessman will assume the duties of Sheila Beglin during her maternity leave.
“As a seasoned elementary administrator, Rob possesses the talent and experience to lead William O. Schaefer Elementary School through our District’s reopening process. He’ll be working closely with Sheila Beglin, Brian Galvin and our full District administrative team this summer to coordinate and plan for the fall. And, during such uncertain times, he’ll be a familiar face for many of our students and families and provide a bridge between WOS and CLE,” said Superintendent of Schools Robert Pritchard, Ed.D. “We congratulate and wish Sheila and Maggie White, who will both be on maternity leave.”
Schliessman was hired in July 2017 as Assistant Principal at Cottage Lane Elementary School. Over the past three years, he has been responsible for curriculum development for core subjects and CLE’s social emotional learning program, professional development planning and creation for educators, coordination of enrichment programming for students and oversight of the school’s Response-to-Intervention (RTI) process. He also participates in decision-making for hiring and teacher evaluation at CLE.
Prior to joining the District, Schliessman served for six years as the assistant principal at Public School 334 (The Anderson School), where he had previously worked as a physical education and health teacher, athletic coordinator and coach.
