South Orangetown Central School District

Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School senior and The College Board National African American Recognition Program winner Gabriella Picott!

“We are really proud of Gabi’s achievements,” said Principal Rudy Arietta. “She has made great contributions to our school, both in and out of the classroom. It is fantastic to see those contributions and her hard work recognized by The College Board.”

Picott was selected for this honor based on her outstanding performance on the October 2019 Preliminary SAT/NMSQT and academic achievement. Students who earn this recognition are among the most talented in the nation and score in the top 2.5% of test takers who identify as African American or Black and have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Those invited to apply for recognition work with their school counselor during the spring of their junior year to submit application materials. Winners are announced in early fall of their senior year.
