South Orangetown Central School District

Sent via SchoolMessenger on January 14, 2021

Our District was notified that an individual who was at Tappan Zee High School this week tested positive for COVID-19 today. Therefore, TZHS will be closed tomorrow, January 15, for cleaning. Classes will continue online as scheduled. Transportation for students who do not attend school on the TZHS campus will continue as scheduled.

Students and staff will return in person on Tuesday, January 19.

Our administrators are working collaboratively with the Rockland County Department of Health and cooperating with contact tracing efforts. Those who were identified as contacts of the person who tested positive will be contacted by the District by tomorrow morning and may also receive a call from a Contact Tracer from the Department of Health.

For such calls, your caller ID may read “NYS Contact Tracing” or display a phone number with a 518 area code.

  • Please promptly answer these calls.
  • Your identity and the information you share will remain confidential.
  • Please provide Contact Tracers with the information they need to protect our entire School District community.
