Tappan Zee High School junior Gabrielle Arabe and senior Casey Kousoulas have been named Hudson Valley Regional Winners of the National Center for Women & Information Technology 2021 Aspirations in Computing Award! AiC recipients are chosen based on demonstrated interest and achievements in computer science. Junior Kayla Ng earned a Regional Honorable Mention.

Arabe has enrolled in computer science coursework for two years and is a member of the Computer Science Club and Computer Science Honor Society. They plan to major in game design and pursue a career as a video game developer.

Since sophomore year, Kousoulas has taken Visual Basic, Java, AP Computer Science A and, currently, Computer Science Capstone Honors. A member of the Computer Science Honor Society, she plans to major in engineering–possibly with a connection to computing.

For the past three years, Ng has taken computer science coursework and has been a member of Computer Science Club, Computer Science Honor Society and SO BOTZ, the high school’s FIRST Robotics Competition team. She is currently exploring related fields through the capstone course and intends to major in computer science in college.

“We are so proud of Casey, Gabrielle, and Kayla for their outstanding achievements in computer science! Congratulations to each of them for being recognized with this prestigious award,” said TZHS computer science teacher Karen Connell. Connell also advises the Computer Science Club, Computer Society Honor Society and SO BOTZ.

Congratulations to Gabrielle, Casey and Kayla!
