Blauvelt Lions Club President Andy Andrews visited South Orangetown Middle School yesterday afternoon to congratulate seventh-graders Emily B. (school winner) and Tatiana A. (school runner-up) for their outstanding entries for the 2020-2021 Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest! The theme was “Peace through Service.”
“My poster is about equality among races throughout the world,” Emily explained, noting that she had chosen to include some lesser-known country flags in her design.
Pointing out the hands reaching in from the edges of her piece towards the Earth, Tatiana said, “The hands are different skin colors and it shows that we are all perfect the way we are.”
The annual contest is sponsored by Lions clubs around the globe to provide children with the opportunity to “share their unique images of peace with others, so that we may all have greater tolerance and international understanding.”
Congratulations, Emily and Tatiana!
