Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School students Deanna Jovino, Laura McCabe and Matthew Tobin, winners of the TZHS PTSA Reflections Awards! Jovino’s visual arts piece titled “Hear My Voice,” McCabe’s photography submission “I matter because if I wasn’t there these moments would not have been captured” and Tobin’s literary work “As Well as Just Hearts,” each placed first in their respective categories.
The 2020-21 National PTA Reflections Awards theme, “I Matter Because,” invited students in PreK through Grade 12 to express themselves through dance choreography, film production, literature, music competition, photography and visual arts. Works are submitted for recognition at the school level each year; winners advance for regional, state and national judging.
“It is an honor to facilitate Tappan Zee High School’s involvement in the National PTA Reflections contest,” said TZHS PTSA Reflections Committee Chair Tina O’Keefe. “Our students are given an opportunity to express themselves and think outside of the box. In this challenging year, each submission took my breath away and provided me with hope.”
The 2021-2022 Reflections theme is “I Will Change the World By…” Entry information will be shared this fall.
