Fifth-grade students, parents and teachers were saluted during Cottage Lane Elementary School’s moving up ceremonies at Tappan Zee High School this morning. “This is a special moving up…it feels like the most earned moving up there is for your parents, your teachers and, of course, you,” Principal Karen Ramirez said to fifth-graders.
With an emphasis on the positive outcomes of a non-traditional year, Ramirez identified awards that all gathered had earned over the past 15 months: Most Improved at Technology, Most Flexible Thinkers, Most First Days of School, Best Home-School Connection and Most Positive Fifth-Grade Crew. “The little things counted this year and you were appreciative of each opportunity.”
School Psychologist Linda King, who is retiring after 22 years of dedicated service to the District, presented the Lori McGrath Character Education Award to Kyle Bishop, who was recognized for exemplifying responsibility, kindness and compassion.
Congratulations to Kyle and to all our rising sixth-graders as they transition to middle school!
