Fourteen Tappan Zee High School students and alumni were recognized at last night’s Board of Education meeting for their work as Summer STEAM Camp volunteers this year. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction noted that these students provided valuable support to the sixth annual summer enrichment program.
Camp coordinators Jessenia Cursio and Samantha Levine also expressed their gratitude.
They made our program possible. They were the extra set of hands we needed to make sure that we could do hands-on experiments and activities at every age level by helping to give one-on-one attention to those who needed it, helping with materials management and escorting students from class to class or to their buses. They were a tremendous help in enabling us to run outdoors as much as possible because teachers were able to focus on the activity while the students handled ferrying campers indoors for bathroom or water breaks,” Levine said.
Cursio added, “ I was incredibly impressed with their maturity and sense of responsibility and the cheerfulness they demonstrated toward our campers. These volunteers were instrumental in helping to make this year’s STEAM camp run very smoothly.”
Thank you to our 2021 Summer STEAM Camp volunteers: Theo Ankrah, Megan Clancy, Catherine Cusack, Lily Feinmesser, Adrianne Garvey, Catherine Hasenfus, Katherine Kivelehan, Lily Logerfo, Emma Lussen, Alexandra McKiernan, Anna Robinson, Ella Shay, Fiona Treanor and Emma Vaughan!
