How to Register For a School Sport
Students in grades 7-12 who wish to participate on an interscholastic sports team (modified, freshman, JV or varsity) must do the following to register:
1. Submit a valid sports physical.
Athletes who missed Sport Physical Night in June have one more opportunity to receive a sports physical through the school district on Monday, August 14, 9am-11am in the College Room at Tappan Zee High School.
For those who choose to have the sports physical done by their child’s private physician, it’s recommended that the physical is timed to cover the entire school year. If the physical expires during the school year (or mid-season), a student athlete will not be able to compete until a new physical is on file.
2. Register on RegisterMyAthlete.com
All athletes, including those in Grades 7 and 8, should click “Tappan Zee High School” to enter the district’s RegisterMyAthlete portal.
3. View Required Videos on Concussion and Concussion Prevention
Each athlete and one of his/her parents must view the videos and upload certificates of completion to RegisterMyAthlete in order to complete registration. Athletes and parents must view the video each year.
To view the free video, go to the NFHS Learning Center website. You will need an email address to create an account.
The Athletics, Physical Education & Health Department promotes physical fitness and personal wellness from kindergarten through Grade 12. Starting in Grade 7, students have the opportunity compete in more than a dozen sports on modified, JV and varsity interscholastic teams.
