Cottage Lane Concert Band Update -

Students at Tappan Zee
Elementary and Cottage Lane Elementary Schools were treated to an
exciting program of music, including short demonstrations and
explanations about musical instruments this January. Led by music
teacher Mr. Charles Yassky, community members, SOCSD staff and
students, joined by New York’s finest musicians from Lincoln Center,
Carnegie Hall, US Service Bands, Major Symphony Orchestras, Woody
Herman, Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton Jazz Bands and Broadway
performed for the students. |
On May 27, 2009 the entire
Cottage Lane 4th grade attended at special concert at Carnegie Hall, in
New York City. Each and every student had the opportunity to sing and
play recorder in this renowned auditorium as a part of this program. The
dedicatory concert of carnegie was conducted over one hundred years ago
by none other than Russian composer Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky in 1876. For the second time, the Cottage Lane Recorder Club, under the direction of CLE's Mrs. Lisa Kahn were invited to perform on the stage, with the St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra.
