Technology in our Schools
An open discussion about technology in grades K to 12
co-sponsored by SOCES PTA and SEPTA
Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00pm
South Orangetown Middle School - Room 165

How can technology enhance curriculum for all- from our students with special needs to our most gifted learners, and everyone in between? Presenters include George Brady, Director of Technology; Lynn Gorey, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum; Dr. Ken Mitchell, Superintendent of Schools as well as a panel of students and staff from the Cottage Lane Elementary School presenting skills for the 21st Century.

Make a Difference Toy Drive extended through November 24
Drop-off boxes located in lobby of each school

We are still collecting new, wrapped gifts for school-aged boys/girls for the Make a Difference Day drive. Please mark each gift with age range and boy/girl appropriateness. All gifts will be distributed to local children living in shelters during the holiday season. Please send gifts to our elementary schools or bring to above Nov. 19 meeting at SOMS.

School Photo Retakes

Box Tops for Education

Last year SOCES families sent in $2,760 worth of those little pink squares! Our goal this year is to double that amount - so keep on clipping from General Mills products and sending them to PTA via your child's backpack.

Go to the Box Tops for Education web site at www.btfe.com to sign up to support William O. Schaeffer, Tappan Zee, or Cottage Lane Elementary Schools. Each new member who signs up earns SOCES PTA 5 additional box tops. Print coupons or collection sheets, enter contests, and see what we currently have in our Box Top "Bank". Denise McGuire, SOCES PTA Box Top coordinator, reports that they do not send out lots of junk e-mail - only about one message per month.
