Mundo Maya Magazine : articles and information on the history, culture, arte, festivales and life of the Mayan people.

Comida : if you are a lover of Hispanic cuisine you will find a tempting list of food links here.

Cocina Mexicana includes recipes for authentic Mexican food, history of common foods, and typical foods by region. Some recipes include beautiful pictures of the food.

CNN En Español : CNN world news in Spanish. A great resource for Sports, weather, international concerns, health, fashion and everything else you are used to from CNN.

El Colombiano : daily news from MedellÍn, Colombia. Includes front page stories, sports, culture, and more.

El Espectador : another daily paper from Colombia. Includes front page stories, economics, sports, links to back issues, and more.

Instituto de hidrologia, meterologia, y estudios ambientales : information on climate and weather in Colombia. Updated daily.

La Jornada : this paper supported by la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, offers general world news as well as articles contradicting hot topics.

El País : one of the most widely distributed papers in Spain is now available in part in electronic form. Updated daily.

El Periódico online : the electronic edition of El Periódico de Catalunya.

Opina digital : this site features news pulled from a variety of sources in Spain offering many viewpoints. Includes international news as well as local.

La Prensa : in addition to the complete news features of this Panama City paper, it includes the entertainment section. Guess what the movie title would be in English.

Prensa Escrita : search for daily newspapers in all Spanish speaking countries.

La Prensa Libre : straight from Guatemala this is said to be Central America's largest daily newspaper. The latest Latin American news. Articles are in Spanish.

Caretas : online Peruvian magazine covering political and cultural issues of Perú. Offers a democratic view in its full length articles.

Hachette Filipacchi : Spain's edition of numerous popular magazines including Elle, Car and Driver, Soaps, Home, Photography and many more.

El Corte Inglés : an online shopping at El Corte Inglés. A great place for product information and pricing or place an order.

Silueta a bilingual magazine with feature stories on nutrition, gardening, the planet, nature, and much more.

Palabra del día: a growing list of vocabulary including meaning, sinonyms, and examples. You can receive a word a day by email if you prefer.

Centro Virtual Cervantes: if you are interested in langauge and culture this is a place to visit. With the use of Real Video you can explore this museum of language, learn and test your knowledge both for students and instructors.

Foreign Language Resources for Students and Teachers

www.foreignword.com:  It is a word/text translation service and has access to 265 + online dictionaries for 73 languages.  It is very useful as a dictionary.  However, it is not recommended for translating texts because, like all other text translators, it is not accurate and is not accepted for classroom use by all foreign language teachers at TZ.

www.diccionarios.com:  It is an online dictionary that allows you to translate English, French, German or Catalán to Spanish, Spanish to English, French, German or Catalán, as well as finding synonyms and antonyms in Spanish.  It also allows you to conjugate verbs.  However, you are limited to looking up a few words each time to go the website and then requires that you become a member and pay a fee for the service.

www.ilovelanguages.com:  It is a large catalog of a variety of resources which include online language lessons, dictionaries, language schools etc.

www.studyspanish.com:  It is a free online tutorial.  You can use their grammar drills, online, read their newletter or their word of the day as well as their idiom generator and their cultural notes.  Some of it is free to use without membership, for other things you can join for free and for their premium service you need to join and pay a fee.

www.quia.com:  You will find all sorts of activities to practice your Spanish at this website.  You can subscribe for 30 days for no charge.  However, after 30 days there is a fee.

www.conjuguemos.com:  It is a website where you can verb conjugations, grammar and vocabulary in Latin, French, German and Spanish.  There is no fee but you have to subscribe to use their service.

www.sispain.com:  Go to this website to find out about Spanish fiestas, travel to Spain, Spanish culture, politics, geography, population and more.

www.cicclapaz.com/spanishonline.html:  It is a site where you can take a variety of “tests” in Spanish to practice your grammar.

http://www.learnalanguage.org/elemspan/:  This is a resource for elementary school students but can be used by older students learning Spanish as well.  It includes topics such as the alphabet, clothing, food and drink, the family and many, many more!
