SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

County of Rockland – Youth Bureau –Rockland County AmeriCorps
– This program is designed for students who are hardworking ages 17 and older. Perfect for environmentally minded students looking for a full-time paid community service position as a AmeriCorps member (June through August). Applications are due 4/30/12 and are available in the guidance dept. Call 845-708-7307/7308 for more information.

County of Rockland Youth Bureau – Rockland County Youth Bureau in collaboration with RCC will be operating the 2012 Youth Employment Program (YEP) – Project T.E.A.M. – For students who are interested in attending RCC with summer job placement, life skills development, Math and English academic enrichment, preparation for the RCC placement exam. Program runs from July 2 through August 13th. Applications are available in the guidance department. Deadline is 5/23/12.

LifeGuard Courses - American Red Cross Certification - $400.00 fee. Each course is one week long. Location: North Rockland High School.

FOR APPLICATIONS THAT REQUIRE AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT AND/OR LETTER(S) OF RECOMMENDATION

  • YOU MUST BRING A STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE TO YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR. DO NOT PUT YOUR RETURN ADDRESS ON THE ENVELOPE.
  • YOU MUST LET US KNOW IF YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR NEEDS TO FILL OUT ANY PART OF THE APPLICATION.
  • YOU MUST HAND IN YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION TO THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THE DEADLINE.


Scholarships 2011-2012

Kelly Collins Memorial Scholarship – Awarded to a graduating senior who plans to continue participating in the performing arts or visual arts. Due by 5/24/12.

Rockland Community College Scholarships -
The pamphlet of scholarships for new students attending Rockland Community College is now available in the Guidance department. There are several scholarships available.

Rockland County Sheriff’s Deptuies Association, Inc. – $500.00 award given to graduating seniors who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement. Selection of scholarship winners is based on an academic record of “B” average or better. Application must be submitted by 6/1/12.

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley – Seniors can check out scholarship opportunities from the community foundation. Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation scholarship and Mary Abdoo Memorial Scholarship are just a few that are offered. Complete guidelines and applications are available at www.cfhvny.org
