Mu Alpha Theta - MAӨ
Mu Alpha Theta, Tappan Zee's Mathematics Honor Society, is our local chapter of the National High School and Junior College Mathematics Club. Our purpose is to enrich students' knowledge and enjoyment of mathematics, which we accomplish through games, projects, and service to the school.
To be eligible for induction into "Mu", students need to meet several demanding yet attainable requirements. Prospective members are required to:

Maintain either a 95 average in a regents-level or higher math sequence for two years or a 90 average for 3 years (Math A in 8 th grade may count toward this requirement)

Earn service points through tutoring, helping math teachers, participating in math team, or otherwise providing service to the math department

Complete a project on a mathematical topic not normally studied in any of our courses
We also have lots of fun playing math games at our monthly meetings, with winners earning points toward a raffle at the end of the year.
Meetings are held once a month on Friday afternoons at 2:30 in the TZHS library.
