The Special Education Department provides different course models to
allow students the opportunity to access the same curriculum with the goal
of passing the regents exam in each academic area. We offer the
following three models:
-
Our Co-teach
classes
have
a
certified content
area
teacher
and
a
special
education
teacher
who
supports
the
needs
of
the
classified
students.
The
classes
are
designed
to
have
a
maximum
of
twelve
designated
classified
students
as
part
of
our
class
mix.
-
Special Class Non-Integrated: These are all classified students with a maximum
class size of fifteen and are taught by a certified content area teacher and a
special education teacher. The teachers approach the curriculum in creative
ways to support learning differences.
Resource Room: The Resource Support Program provides an opportunity for students
to work with teachers in a small group setting which consist of five classified
students and one special education teacher. Students will receive encouragement
and assistance to improve basic skills, complete assignments on a timely basis
and prepare for academic success in achieving their IEP goals.
