At its annual Reorganization Meeting on July 3, the South Orangetown Central School District Board of Education swore in new member Thomas Henry. Voters elected Henry in May 2018 to fill the seat previously held by Ken Malpeli.
Henry possesses more than 30 years as a systems analyst for companies in the financial and pharmaceutical industries and is currently employed by CVS Health Corporation. An active, longtime South Orangetown community member, Henry has coached CYO basketball, South Orangetown Little League baseball and OMM soccer. He is supervisor of the St. Catharine’s recreational basketball program, through which high school students coach athletes in grades 3 through 8. Henry and his wife Christine have three sons, all of whom attend or graduated from SOCSD schools. His Board term expires June 30, 2021.
The Board of Education also elected officers for the 2018-19. Rosemary Pitruzzella was re-elected as president and Dan Lamadrid was re-elected as vice president.
