NYS Senator David Carlucci presented a group of South Orangetown Middle School students and administrators with a Senate Proclamation this morning, in recognition of SOMS’ New York State Essential Elements Schools to Watch redesignation. “South Orangetown Middle School is stepping up, going above and beyond…and it’s really exciting to recognize them,” he noted.
Students discussed school climate and meaningful activities they’ve been involved with at SOMS and, as a token of their appreciation, gave Senator Carlucci a ceramic butterfly from The Butterfly Project.
“The students were appreciative that Senator Carlucci came to SOMS to present us with a proclamation,” said Principal Dr. Chad Corey. “Being re-designated as a Schools to Watch is a direct result of our dedicated and talent staff and wonderful students.”
