The Tappan Zee High School Master Scheduling Team visited Nanuet Senior High School yesterday to speak with Principal Michael Mahoney, Assistant Principal Lily DeGraw, guidance counselors, faculty team leaders and students, about their school’s transition to a new schedule two years ago.
“The Nanuet team was great!” shared Principal Dr. Jennifer Amos. “We are so appreciative of the opportunity to meet with our colleagues and students at Nanuet and learn about their experiences as it relates to their master schedule. Their input definitely fueled new lines of inquiry among the TZHS Master Scheduling Inquiry Team.”
This was the fourth and final visit for the team, which will reconvene in the weeks ahead to share findings and examine options for TZHS moving forward. In the spring, the team aims to have a recommendation to present to Superintendent Dr. Pritchard.
The Master Scheduling Inquiry Team is comprised of TZHS administrators, faculty, students and parents. Over the past two months, the team has visited local high schools with different approaches to scheduling to learn how their master schedules impact student choice, stress level and achievement; faculty instructional practices, collaboration and culture; and, facilities, food service and staffing requirements.
