Kindergarten registration begins February 12 for children in South Orangetown who will turn age 5 by December 1, 2020!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to the kindergarten registration process:
STEP 1: Attend the Incoming Kindergarten Orientation for Parents on Wednesday, February 12, 7:00PM, William O. Schaefer Elementary School (WOS), 140 Lester Drive, Tappan. (Snow date: Thursday, February 13 at 7:00PM)
STEP 2: Register your child online at www.socsd.org/registration starting Wednesday, February 12.
STEP 3: Drop off required registration documents and ask questions at one of our Kindergarten Registration Assistance sessions at WOS:
- Tuesday, February 25, 6:00 – 8:00PM
- Wednesday, March 18, 6:00 – 8:00PM – CANCELED DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURE (updated 3/17/18)
- Friday, March 20, 8:30AM – 3:30PM – CANCELED DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURE (updated 3/17/18)
STEP 4 (updated 4/16/20): In-person screening sessions for incoming kindergartners for the 2020-21 school year have been postponed. In the meantime, the District will be mailing parent questionnaires to families and pre-kindergarten questionnaires to preschool directors to supplement registration information and inform the class placement process.
Parent and pre-kindergarten questionnaires should be completed and returned by May 15 and may be sent via email (registration@socsd.org) or mailed to Laura DiMaio, District Registrar, South Orangetown Central School District, 160 Van Wyck Road, Blauvelt, NY 10913. Support documents for kindergarten registration, such as proof of residence, may also be submitted via email or mailed to this address, as well.
