On April 23, 2020, the Board of Education adopted the District’s new mission and values statement, which had been developed with the input of nearly 1,000 students, staff, families and community members earlier this year:
The mission of the South Orangetown Central School District is to elevate, engage and inspire through personalized and exceptional educational experiences that ensure all students achieve to their fullest potential.
Our values are:
- To challenge our students with the highest quality education
- To foster an inclusive school district community based upon respect, responsibility, equity and global citizenship
- To provide a safe and nurturing environment which prepares every student for future success
“Our world and how we meet the needs of our students has drastically changed within the past few months. This crisis has challenged all of us to reimagine and redesign how we deliver public education,” said Pritchard. “We’ve already laid the groundwork through our strategic planning, master capital planning and mission review processes. As we plan and build capacity for a sustainable ‘new normal,’ our mission and values will be the North Star by which we navigate.”
