Email sent via SchoolMessenger to SOCSD families on August 5, 2020
Dear South Orangetown Central School District Families,
The Transportation Office is busy working on bus routing and logistics for reopening in September. View the Transportation At-A-Glance webpage.
To support this process, we are asking families to complete a Transportation Request Form for each of their children to indicate whether or not they require busing to SOCSD schools for the 2020-21 school year.
Please complete and return one Transportation Request Form (English | Español) per child to the Transportation Office via email (transportation@socsd.org) or fax (845-680-1972) no later than August 15, 2020. Tappan Zee High School students who live within 1.5 miles of the school are not eligible for busing and should not submit this form.
Processing of requests for changes to transportation will be suspended between August 16 through September 18. After September 18, the Transportation Office will make every effort to process requests as quickly as possible. However, requests may take up to 10 days to process.
Per NYSED regulations, SOCSD will continue to provide pupil transportation to nonpublic, parochial, private, and charter school students and/or for students whose Individualized Education Plans have placed them out of district, when those schools are meeting for in-person instruction and SOCSD is open for student instruction (in-person or remotely). The deadline to submit a request for non-public school transportation for the 2020-21 school year was April 1, 2020. Those who requested transportation do not need to submit this form.
Thank you,
Michelle Stevens
