South Orangetown Central School District

Sent via SchoolMessenger on March 4, 2021

The District was notified last night that two individuals at Tappan Zee High School have tested positive for COVID-19. No contact tracing was required for one case; for the other, exposure dates have been determined to be Monday, March 1 and Tuesday, March 2.

Due to the late hour of the report, contact tracing began but was not completed last night. Therefore, Tappan Zee High School will operate on a fully-remote basis today, March 4, and will reopen for hybrid in-person learning tomorrow, March 5.

Those identified as contacts of the individuals who tested positive may be contacted by the District and may also receive a call from a Contact Tracer from the Department of Health.

  • For such calls, your caller ID may read “NYS Contact Tracing” or display a phone number with a 518 area code.
  • Please promptly answer these calls.
  • Your identity and the information you share will remain confidential.
  • Please provide Contact Tracers with the information they need to protect our entire School District community.

Thank you.
