Artwork by Tappan Zee High School sophomore Kathryn Staker is bringing a ray of sunshine to Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Staker’s artwork was selected by a panel of judges to be displayed in the pediatric emergency unit located within the hospital’s F.J. Borelli Emergency Center!

Staker was encouraged to enter a submission in the county-wide contest last spring by TZHS art teacher Donna Grasso. Her artwork, which features the message “You are loved,” illustrates Staker’s aspiration to offer positivity and support to the unit’s young patients. “I hope that I can help a child who is going through a very tough time feel loved,” she says.

Art is one of Staker’s favorite hobbies and subjects; she notes that Grasso has been an inspirational and supportive educator. The student-artist is excited to see her work on display in the new unit and looks forward to participating in the hospital’s upcoming awards ceremony to honor the winning artists.

Congratulations, Kathryn!
