William O. Schaefer Elementary School celebrated Field Day with enthusiasm, excitement and activity this week! Hosted by WOS Physical Education teachers Chris Counihan, Christy Steingasser, Thomas Dehler and Emily Donovan, K-2 students participated in activity stations ranging from hand-eye coordination skills challenges to agility relays during their PE classes.

Field Day participants were eager to run, jump, crawl, hop, and throw their way through the two-day event. “Our Field Day activities encourage students to play cooperatively, not competitively,” said Steingasser. “Through small group teamwork and collaboration, we not only want to promote physical activity in an outdoor setting, but prepare students to be good citizens in the future–beyond the classroom.”
