Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School senior Chris Pagliaroli, who recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout! Pagliaroli, a member of the Boy Scouts of America since first grade, belongs to Troop 2055 in Blauvelt. Earning Eagle Scout rank is a milestone accomplishment and the highest achievement for Boy Scouts; fewer than seven percent of eligible scouts earn this rank.

Pagliaroli’s project, Revitalizing Depot Square, focused on the refurbishment of Depot Square Park in Sparkill. “A lot of the veteran memorials were in disrepair, so we fixed that up and worked on podium repairs, plantings and painting. Local businesses pitched in to help,” he reported.

The Eagle Scout is also a Sparkill-Palisades Fire Department volunteer and his dedication to service is at the core of his commitment to scouting. “It’s a great thing to do. You have a lot of fun, meet a lot of great people and the work we do for the community is impactful and important,” reflected Pagliaroli.

“Be prepared” is the Scout motto, so it’s no surprise that Pagliaroli already has a detailed plan for his future. The soon-to-be grad intends to enroll at Rockland Community College, then complete his undergraduate education at St. Thomas Aquinas College. “Then, hopefully I’ll become an officer with Orangetown Police Department and continue serving my community,” he said.
