South Orangetown Central School District

Incoming sixth-graders were met with a warm welcome as they arrived at South Orangetown Middle School during orientation visits the past two weeks! Current sixth-graders and teachers lined the halls to clap for the CLE students as they exited their buses and entered the building via the same arrival route they’ll follow this fall.

SOMS administrators, student support team members and sixth-grade team leaders provided a brief introduction to what to expect in sixth grade, discussed their roles as student resources and presented information about classes, clubs and athletics.

Students also had an opportunity to tour their new school and become familiar with the locations of the counseling center, classrooms, main office, lockers, the cafeteria, the auditorium and the library before heading outside to test out the recess area!

More information is posted on the Incoming Sixth-Graders webpage.
