Tappan Zee High School’s La Société Honoraire de Français inducted 20 new juniors and re-inducted six seniors in its annual induction ceremony tonight!

“I am honored to work with this group of incredibly talented young individuals who have grown and developed in both their French proficiency, and in their love of French language and culture,” said Honor Society Advisor and World Language teacher Elaine Hayes. “Emerging markets in African Francophone countries have made French the fifth most spoken language in the world and approximately 300 million people on five continents speak French.”

The TZHS French Honor Society recognizes high achievement of junior and senior French language students. It aims to stimulate interest and understanding in the study of French language, and Francophone culture and civilization. To be eligible for induction, students must earn an average of 90 or above after two years of French language coursework and have an overall academic average of 88 or higher.
