Student-led drives at Cottage Lane Elementary School and South Orangetown Middle School are helping the SOCSD Food Pantry stock up for holiday distributions to families this week!
At SOMS, the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council collaborated on their collections to benefit our neighbors in need. Collectively, SOMS students gathered 928 items, including cereal, canned goods, pasta, beans and more.
The CLE Student Advisory Council stuffed a truck yesterday with 3,357 items donated through their school-wide campaign. Several SAC members and their families traveled to the Food Pantry after school to unpack and sort donations. The effort was aligned with CLE’s character education program and emphasis on community. “The class that donated the most items wins extra recess, but that’s not really what it’s about. It’s about helping people in our community and that is rewarding,” noted SAC representative Maya M.
Heartfelt thanks to our CLE and SOMS students, staff and families for your generous support of the SOCSD Food Pantry!
Want to support? Donations may be dropped off at the Food Pantry (in the former Tappan Zee Elementary School, 561 Route 9W, Piermont) tomorrow, December 16, 3:00-5:00PM. View the list of suggested donation items at: www.socsd.org/food-pantry.
