This week, students in Sunita Hill’s third grade class at Cottage Lane Elementary School delved into a variety of activities centered on developing STEM skills through hands-on exploration!

Participating in STEM-tastic activities ranging from marshmallow toothpick tower construction, to paper chain creations, to paper bridge building, third-graders used engineering principles to create and innovate.

“These activities build cooperative learning skills while applying students’ math and science knowledge,” explained Hill. “These children learn that planning and designing are key elements to their success. Through experimenting with various materials, these third-graders have the opportunity to apply critical thinking skills in order to solve real-world problems.”
