South Orangetown Central School District

Last Sunday, Tappan Zee High School’s Youth and Government Club hosted delegates–virtually and in-person–from Pearl River, Nyack, Middletown, White Plains and North Rockland for the District Four Conference.

Members of the YAG Legislative branch debated their bills, while Judicial branch members reviewed briefs and Press Corps members interviewed guest speakers New York State Senator Elijah Reichlen-Melnick, New York Supreme Court Justice Linda Christopher and Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny.

Senior Katrina Christopher Peel, who was elected Youth Governor for the 86th Annual New York State Youth and Government Conference, presided over the event. “The conference went exceptionally well and marked the first time that TZ held a District Conference, which shows the huge strides we have made as a club. We are a student-run program and this conference is a reflection of what our hard work can look like if we work together.”
