Last Thursday, 11 juniors and seniors were inducted into Tappan Zee High School’s English Honor Society! They are: Anastasia Albert (not pictured), Cassidy Chang, Carol Daquilema, Hela Sage Giaever, Justin Johnson, Sia Laddis (not pictured), Clare McCormack, Lauren McNamara, Kate Miranda, Madeline Wennerod and Carrie Williams.
During the ceremony, students were introduced by the five senior EHS officers. Each officer spoke about a book that was meaningful to them and why. Selections included “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White, “The Silver Music Box” by Mina Baites, “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, “Wonderstruck” by Brian Selznick and “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe” by Benjamin Alire Saenz.
Founded in 2003, the TZHS EHS confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature. The society aims to serve society by fostering literacy through providing cultural stimulation in the forms of lectures, debates and performances.
