South Orangetown Central School District

The SOCSD Family Engagement Center’s first World Down Syndrome Day event yesterday afternoon was a tremendous success!

“The purpose of this cause is to celebrate differences among individuals and promote the continued pursuit of inclusion,” noted SOCSD parent Jason Rann, whose brief comments kicked off the event on the TZHS track.

Students and student-athletes, coaches, families and staff members from SOCSD, as well as Rockland BOCES district-based programs, turned out to support of this special event.

“We are grateful to Mr. Rann for being our guest speaker and a strong advocate, and we are thankful for all of those across our entire school district community for showing up and reaffirming our shared commitment to inclusiveness, caring and respect,” said Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Karen Tesik, Ed.D.

Thank you to all who participated…see you next year!
