South Orangetown Central School District

The South Orangetown Middle School Musical Club proudly presents “Shrek The Musical” this weekend!

Based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation Film, “Shrek The Musical” brings to life everyone’s favorite characters from the fairy-tale adventure with music from Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Cast and crew members have been busy with dress rehearsals this week under the guidance of Director Danelle Greene and Assistant Director Kim Fasano. “This musical became an obvious choice when I thought about how middle school students are on a journey to discover who they are. This show speaks to being proud of who you are and not letting anyone put you in a certain place and making you feel as if you are less than who you are,” said Greene.

“Shrek The Musical” features the hard work and dedication of thirty one cast members, twenty three crew members and many others. “Every production is unique and this one is no different. For me, this one stands out because we have new members of our cast and crew who really stepped up and embraced this experience. We have new people working behind the scenes helping to put all of this together, as well as parent volunteers, retirees, Mrs. Jamie Fodor and graduates who came to lend us a hand. I must mention Kim Fasano who stepped in as the new Assistant Director this year. Her knowledge and support have been a big asset to the show. Because of her, we have a new Art Director and Sound Designer, Mr. Collin Simon.”

Showtimes are 7:30PM this Friday and Saturday, with a matinee performance at 2PM on Sunday in the SOMS Auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the door prior to the start of the show or online in advance here: socsd.booktix.com/. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for students and senior citizens. Senior citizens are admitted free on Sunday.
