Mission

The mission of the South Orangetown Central School District is to elevate, engage and inspire through personalized and exceptional educational experiences that ensure all students achieve to their fullest potential. The district will utilize and distribute resources and programming which promote integrity and fairness to ensure a district system of equity, access and opportunities for all.

District Profile

South Orangetown Central School District is a high-performing, public school district which serves the residents of Blauvelt, Grandview-on-Hudson, Orangeburg, Palisades, Piermont, Sparkill and Tappan, New York.

The District operates four schools with a combined, district-wide enrollment of approximately 2,800 students:

  • William O. Schaefer Elementary School (WOS), Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 2
  • Cottage Lane Elementary School (CLE), Grades 3-5
  • South Orangetown Middle School (SOMS), Grades 6-8
  • Tappan Zee High School (TZHS), Grades 9-12
