Tonight (May 6), the Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Treble Chorus and Symphonic Band will perform. On Thursday, May 8, the Concert Band, Concert Choir and Concert Orchestra will take the stage. Both performances will be held in the SOMS Auditorium and the concerts will begin at 7:00PM.

This spring, the Office of Curriculum and Instruction was able to secure $75,000 from Connect-Kids-to-Parks Field Trip Grants, which will be used specifically to support grade-level trips to New York State Parks!

Last Thursday, South Orangetown Middle School eighth grade Italian language students traveled to Arthur Avenue to learn about Italian culture. On their annual field trip, students visited several local businesses to learn about the history of the neighborhood and to see how they prepare their Italian-American delicacies.

“The cereal party has been a Graphic Design class tradition for the past four years,” noted Tappan Zee High School Art teacher Leigh LaBrake last Friday. “It’s a culminating celebration for our packaging design project, which challenges students to put what they’ve learned all year about font styles, color palettes, size, scale and composition to work. Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva, they have to design a branded cereal box, complete with company logo, cereal name, an image of the cereal, mascot or character and slogan–as well as a back-of-the-box activity and nutrition panel. The product can be original or a variation on an existing cereal on the market.”
