Dutchmen Institute

The Dutchmen Institute is a series of 15 sessions over the course of a single school year designed to give members of the South Orangetown Central School District faculty targeted, meaningful professional learning opportunities that will enhance their ability to engage the students they are currently working with. In each session, participants review best practices and design unit plans and lessons that reflect what they have learned. Each two-hour session uses a hands-on approach to help participants understand the methods and strategies from the perspective of both a teacher and a learner.

Each cohort begins in September.

Leadership Teams

District-wide teams comprised of administrators and teachers representing each grade level guides continuous curriculum development, alignment and implementation for each of the four core subject areas (English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies), Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Response to Intervention (MTSS/RTI) and Technology. Teams review programming, practices and resources in the context of current research on pedagogical practice, state and national standards and District strategic goals.
