Dutchmen Pride: AD Earns National Certification

SOCSD's Physical Education, Health & Athletics Director Bill Pilla has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA). This distinction awarded by NIAAA — the leading professional development organization in the field — is given to those who have demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise through undergoing a voluntary, thorough evaluation process of their educational background, experience and contributions in addition to taking courses and a rigorous, comprehensive written examination. Bill has successfully completed 10 courses, only five of which are required for CAA and include:

• Guiding Foundations, Philosophies and Resources;
• Fundamentals of Education-Based Athletic Management;
• Innovative Strategies in Education-Based Athletics Management;
• Legal Issues I (Liability for Sports Injuries and Risk Management); and,
• Legal Issues II (Title IX and Sexual Harassment).

He joins an elite group of individuals nationwide, who have attained this level of professionalism. Congratulations!
