Four TZHS Students Named Semifinalists in National Competition
Congratulations to SOCSD's Lukas Witek, Kayleen Yi, Thomas McKenna and Sean Han — semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Competition!
Over 1.3 million students enter the Competition annually by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit® Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) during their junior year of high school. Lukas, Kayleen, Thomas and Sean — now seniors at Tappan Zee — were recently recognized for their academic talents as demonstrated on the 2024 PSAT/NMSQT®. Semifinalists (16,000) are: the highest-scoring entrants from each state; represent less than 1% of graduating twelfth graders; advance in the Competition for Merit Scholarship® awards; and, are considered for Finalist status. Well done!
