Jack Bixhorn Appointed as Cottage Lane Elementary School Principal

Jack Bixhorn was appointed Principal of Cottage Lane Elementary School during the July 27 Board of Education meeting and will join the district effective August 26. In this role, Mr. Bixhorn will provide instructional and administrative leadership to support the success and well-being of every student. As principal, he will oversee the school's daily operations, foster a safe, inclusive and student-centered learning environment and work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students and families to advance the district's mission and goals. Committed to continuous improvement, Mr. Bixhorn will support high-quality teaching and learning by promoting professional growth, encouraging collaboration and maintaining high expectations for academic excellence and student achievement.

Since 2022, Jack has served as principal of Rhame Avenue Elementary School in the East Rockaway School District, where he began his career in education as a sixth-grade math and science teacher and later served as the district's elementary math specialist. Prior to becoming principal of Rhame Avenue, he served as Director of Technology and Data for the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District, where he previously served as the district's K–12 Mathematics Supervisor for three years. He holds a Master of Science in Childhood and Childhood Special Education from St. John's University and School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications from The College of Saint Rose.

The district extends our sincere appreciation to Karen Scarth, Ed.D., who has resigned from the position of Principal at Cottage Lane Elementary School to accept a new role as Director of Pre-K and Elementary Education in the Chappaqua Central School District.
