SO BOTZ Heads to World Championship

SO BOTZ is headed to Houston, Texas for the 2026 FIRST Robotics World Championship this week!

“This achievement represents the dedication, resilience, and teamwork of every student, mentor, and supporter who has been part of our journey. Competing at the Hudson Valley Regional, we were honored to compete alongside our 4th team alliance captain, Ossining , and in addition earn the prestigious Engineering Inspiration Award—in recognition of our commitment to growing STEM in our community and around the world,” explained SO BOTZ Advisor and TZHS Computer Science teacher and 6-12 Instructional Math Coach Karen Connell. “We are especially proud to celebrate our longtime mentor, Joe Gottlieb, who was recognized with the Woodie Flowers Award for his outstanding dedication and impact on students. His leadership embodies everything our team strives to be.”

SO BOTZ team members will join more than 1,000 student teams and 50,000 attendees from around the world from April 29-May 2. “Attending the Championship is more than just a competition—it’s an opportunity to represent our school and community on a global stage, to collaborate and learn from teams around the world, and to continue pushing ourselves to innovate, inspire, and lead,” said Connell.

This is the fifth time in nine years that SO BOTZ has advanced to the World Championship. Good luck, Team 6911!
