SOCSD Hosts Annual K-5 Family Science Night

It was a full house last night for the K-5 Family Science Night at William O. Schaefer Elementary School! Students and their families had the opportunity to try out a variety of science and STEM-inspired activities that allowed students to engineer, analyze, hypothesize and problem-solve. 

From engineering their own roller coasters out of paper plates to making slushies, students eagerly rotated through various stations hosted by teachers from WOS and Cottage Lane Elementary School. The event, which is organized by K-8 Instructional Science Coach Samantha Levine and sponsored by the National PTA, gives families the opportunity to try fun, hands-on science experiments that feature simple materials to inspire students to try their own science activities at home.
