SOMS D.A.R.E. Class of 2025

SOMS D.A.R.E. Class of 2025

The South Orangetown Central School District, in partnership with the Orangetown Police Department (OPD), this week celebrated the D.A.R.E. Class of 2025 at South Orangetown Middle School during a graduation ceremony. The evidence-based program teaches sixth graders the steps — define, assess, respond and evaluate (D.A.R.E.) — that they can take towards making safe and responsible choices. Prior to formally recognizing our students and those whose artwork best depicted the lessons learned (pictured), Officer Amaury Lopez and Detective Daniel Ryan were "keepin' it REAL" with families by reviewing some key components of the curriculum.

“Over the course of 10 weeks, our students have developed positive experiences and relationships with classmates, D.A.R.E. officers and members of OPD,” said Principal Chad Corey, Ed.D. “It is our hope that they continue to utilize their [newfound] information and skills throughout middle school, high school and beyond.” Congratulations!
