SOMS Hosts Annual COVE All Stars Basketball Game
The South Orangetown Middle School COVE Allstars hit the basketball court for an exciting game against members of the Girls and Boys Modified Basketball team during eighth grade lunch last Friday!
“This annual basketball game isn’t just a match up on the court, it is a celebration of unity and inclusion. By filling the stands with our students cheering on the COVE Allstars and our 8th grader players falling to the ground as they get crossed up really transcends the boundaries of ability and embraces the strength found in diversity,” said SOCSD Family Engagement Center Coordinator AJ Walker, who coordinates this annual event with SOMS teachers Joe Napoli, Chris Rastelli, Ryan McWIlliams and Kevin Lynch and Rockland BOCES COVE teachers Beth Doremus and Maria Palanza.
This is the third year that the FEC has organized COVE Allstars games at SOMS and Tappan Zee High School as part of a broader effort to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
