SOMS Hosts Annual Studio Art Show

SOMS Hosts Annual Studio Art Show

“What makes this event special is that, while some of the projects are the same, the artists are so incredibly different each year. The way that each artist in each class interprets the assignments and expresses themselves through their work is unique and inspiring,” noted South Orangetown Middle School Art teacher Allison Meyers at the Eighth Grade Studio Art Show this morning.

The annual exhibition features the work of roughly 50 student artists who take Studio Art, a foundational, high school level course taught by Meyers and Riley Schoales. Eighth graders who successfully complete the course earn one credit toward their New York State graduation requirements and are eligible to register for advanced art electives at Tappan Zee High School.

The early morning reception is attended by artists and their family and friends. Teachers bring their classes to view the show throughout the remainder of the day.

Congratulations to our eighth grade artists and their teachers!
