SOMS Inducts 75 New Members Into NJHS

Scholarship. Leadership. Service. Citizenship. Character.

The South Orangetown Middle School Excelsior Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently inducted 75 new members and honored current ones in Grade 8 during its annual ceremony. All students, under the leadership of NJHS advisors Bobbie-Angela Wong and Adolfo Godinez, have demonstrated the five pillars mentioned above. Another highlight of the celebration is when NJHS officers presented a local non-profit that they've been supporting throughout the year with a donation and, for 2026, we are proud to announce that Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley will receive $1,000 on behalf of SOMS' NJHS! Senior Development Coordinator Lindsay von Hagn happily accepted a big check and thanked students for helping to grant the life-changing wishes of local children battling critical illnesses.

Congratulations to all and special thanks to the SOMS Jazz Band, under the direction of teacher Tyler Leitman, for providing the evening's entertainment!
