The Science Olympiad (SO) Club at South Orangetown Middle School, along with advisors Deena Kramarczyk and K-8 Instructional Science Coach Sam Levine, is already looking ahead to the Lower Hudson B Regional Tournament in March — part of the larger New York State SO Competition. Students this week began exploring the advanced topic of food science (particularly milk products) in preparation for their Physical Science & Chemistry event where they will be asked to perform one of the following tasks:
• prepare (pictured) and form ice cream on a surface to obtain a height measurement;
• determine the curd mass; or,
• determine the milk fat mass from cream.
